How to transfer DRM protected Digital Copy movies to Microsoft Surface RT/Pro tablet for playing on Windows or Mac

StumbleUponShare

Summary: My article shows you how to convert DRM protected Digital Copy movies to Microsoft Surface DRM-free movies so that you can enjoy Digital Copy movies on your Microsoft Surface RT & Pro Tablet for Windows or Mac.

The following Surface user problems from Google found:

Q1: digital copies of movies in your Surface

has anyone tried transferring digital copies into your Surface?

I have a few that I’d like to copy but they are DRM protected in iTunes.

I tried the trial version of Aimersoft DRM Converter (standard mp4 and HD mp4) in 16:9 ratio but upon viewing the sample on the Surface, the quality is blurry.

if anyone has had success in getting your movies in good quality, please share some tips.

Q2: how do I transfer my PC based digital copies to my surface

Obviously I no longer want to play movies on or even get my laptop out while traveling. My surface is THE device for use in the air so how do I transfer my legally obtained digital copies from my PC. Please don’t suggest ripping the movies because I am so sick of trying to get the lame apps that perform this function to work properly (I’m on my second app and still getting artifacts and mismatched sound) besides I own these copies so I should be able to move them right? As you can probably tell I am pretty frustrated by this. I love the surface and this should be a no brainer because my digital copies are wmv files.

The Surface RT lacks the functionality required for handling the DRM.

As for converting your movies, I’m not sure if this makes you feel better about the idea, but I actually have a Surface RT, i am also a tablet lover, likes to collect all kinds of tablets. I’ve been using it with my own movies (obviously converted with my own software) since release day without playback issues, you can have a try.

This is a simple tutorial from my use experience, hope it can help you to solve “how to transfer or play DRM protected Digital Copy movies onto Microsoft Surface RT/Pro tablet?”

First Free Download the professional Digital Copy movies to Microsoft Surface Converter for Windows or Mac

Step 1. Click “Add Video” button to add Digital Copy files.
After downloading, install and run Pavtube Digital Copy to Microsoft Surface Converter, click “Add Video” to load your Digital Copy movie to the program. You can also simply drag and drop Digital Copy movie to the software. The softare supports batch conversion so you can convert several files in one go.

Step 2. Set output format for Microsoft Surface.

Click on “Format > Windows > Microsoft Surface Windows RT/Pro H.264 Video (*.mp4). This format is special designed to help you getting full-screen effect. If you want to customize your movie, you can click “Settings” to do some adjustments.

Tip: Click the “Browse” button on the main interface to choose a place to save the converted DRM protected Digital Copy files.

Step 3. Set the best video/audio output parameters for Microsoft Surface Tablet.

Click “settings” button to adjust the output parameters of the video/audio. Remember the file size is based more on bitrate than resolution which means bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss. Below is the best video format for Microsoft Surface RT Tablet per my experience:

The supported resolution of Microsoft Surface goes up to 1080p, though video playback and most apps never break out of 720p. For watching videos on the tablet, 720p is just all right. Because I find that bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss.

Step 4. The final step is to click the “Convert” button to start converting Digital Copy movies to Microsoft Surface support format.

Mac users Note: Mac user solution as above

After the conversion, click “Find Target” to locate the DRM-free Digital Copy movie file and transfer them to your Microsoft Surface tablet with ease.

How to transfer DRM-free Digital Copy files to Microsoft Surface:

You can move files to Surface, by copying them to a USB flash drive or memory card (microSD, microSDHC, or micro SDXC cards all work with Surface) and then adding the files to Surface.

1. Copy files onto a USB flash drive or memory card on your other computer.

2. Insert the USB flash drive or memory card into Surface.

3.Tap or click the notification that appears in the upper-right corner of the screen.

4.Tap or click Open folder to view files.

5.Select the files or folders you want to add to Surface, tap or click Home, and then tap or click Copy to.

6.Select a location. For example, choose Documents if the flash drive or memory card contains documents.

Hope the simple tutorial can help Surface fans solve “How to transfer DRM protected Digital Copy movies to Microsoft Surface for watching
